John S. Reeve

     We come together today to celebrate the life of John S. Reeve, a cherished member of our community, who passed away in his home on March 15, 2024, in Valley, Alabama. John was born on January 21, 1941, in Salem, New Jersey. He was a man known for his friendly demeanor, wise insights, and thoughtful nature.

     John's life was rich with love and laughter, surrounded by a large and loving family. He is survived by his devoted children, Debbie Ellison and her husband Kelly, John S. "Buddy" Reeve, Jr. with his wife Danielle, and Donna Downs alongside her husband Don. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Jason Ellison and his wife Daria, Joshua Ellison and his wife Stephanie, Kara Downs, Morgan Reeve, and Camryn Downs, as well as his great-grandchildren, Donovan, Ryan, Dylan, and Sebastian Ellison. John's memory will also be cherished by his siblings, Jean Shearer, Shirley Harris, Mary Jane Stetser, Barbara Holderby, Fred Reeve, and Alice Jackson. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jeannette Reeve, his parents, Mary Thornton and Albert Reeve, his granddaughter, Erin Ellison, and his siblings, Doris Holderby, Al Reeve, and Larry Reeve.

     John's passion for life was evident in everything he did. He found joy in restoring old cars, a hobby that allowed him to bring new life to the classics. His love for reading kept him engaged with the world and its many stories. John was a dedicated member of the West End Baptist Church.

     An artist at heart, John expressed his creativity through various mediums, leaving behind a legacy of beauty and inspiration. He was also a big NASCAR fan, enjoying the thrill of the race and the camaraderie of fellow enthusiasts. John's love for old country music was well-known, and his friends often reminisced about the good times they shared, playing cards and enjoying the tunes of yesteryear.

     As we say goodbye to John S. Reeve, we reflect on a life well-lived, a life filled with joy, kindness, and love. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were touched by his generous spirit. John's journey on this earth may have come to an end, but the impact of his life will be felt for generations to come.

     A memorial service for John will be held on Sunday, March 24th, 2024, at 4:00 PM (EDT) at West End Baptist Church in Valley. The Reverend Don Downs will officiate.
